What I do

I administer the physical and virtual estate underneath things that cannot go down: core banking applications, plant operations, transaction channels. That means Windows Server and Active Directory, VMware, backup and disaster recovery, patching and access control — and increasingly the automation and cloud layers that sit on top of them.

I started as a system administrator on a manufacturing site, moved through site reliability and DevOps work, and now run infrastructure for a microfinance bank. The route through both operations and delivery is the useful part: I've been the person paged at 3am and the person who built the pipeline that caused it, so I tend to design for both.

ITIL v4 certified. Comfortable in regulated environments where every change goes through CAB and every control has to survive an audit.

  • Continuity. Own Veeam backup and replication; run scheduled DR drills between primary and recovery sites against RTO and RPO targets.
  • Compliance. Maintain controls to the CBN IT Standards Blueprint — baselines, patch evidence and access reviews for audit and regulatory examination.
  • Access. Active Directory, Group Policy and privileged access; least-privilege and segregation of duties enforced across admin accounts.

  • Delivery. Built CI/CD in GitHub Actions — deployment lead time from days to under 30 minutes, release frequency up threefold.
  • Containers. Moved monolithic workloads onto Kubernetes with Helm, autoscaling and resource quotas; compute spend down 25%.
  • Secrets. Centralized credentials in Azure Key Vault and added scanning gates to the pipeline, clearing hardcoded secrets out of every repository.
  • Observability. Prometheus, Grafana and Uptime Kuma with alert thresholds that actually fire on real problems — MTTR down 40%.

  • Reliability. 99.9% uptime across hybrid on-premises and Azure environments, with SLOs and monitoring built out in Grafana and Azure Monitor.

  • Automation. Terraform and Ansible for patching, configuration and rollout, replacing manual work with something repeatable.

Configured and deployed an Oracle C3 environment, extending on-premises capacity with managed cloud services while keeping data inside existing residency requirements.

Sized target workloads, managed the data transfer and executed cutover with minimal production downtime.

Zimbra to Zoho mail migration

Full corporate email move — mailbox and archive transfer, DNS and MX cutover, mail flow validation and user onboarding. No mail lost, no unplanned downtime.

Cyber-attack recovery, Nampak Bevcan

Led the technical response after a site compromise: restored affected systems, rebuilt trust in the backup chain, and hardened endpoint and access controls against recurrence.
